Pipeline Gas Leakage Detection Systém

Thanks to the adiabatic expansion of the leaking gas, the pipe at the point of the leak is cooled. The size and location of the temperature drop is recorded by multi-mode optical fibers evenly spaced around the perimeter of the pipe at a distance of up to 20 cm. The location of the leak can be located with this device, depending on the way the fibers are distributed on the pipeline, with an accuracy of up to 15 cm on the monitored pipeline length of up to approx. 8 km. The system for metal pipes was successful during the blind test in 100%. The solution is suitable for many branches (energetics, chemical industry, media transport). The system uses conventional (low cost) optical fiber/cable. The monitoring system is safe, during fiber disruption no gas explosion or endangering human eyes can be initiated. It is fully dielectric measurement with excluding conductive parts. The place of measurement can be removed from the place of evaluation from several tens of metres to several kilometers. The possibililty to monitor gas leakagess under any weather conditions. After fiber/cable installation, no maintenance is needed.
